ORID DHALL MURUKU

Ingredients

1 cup of rice flour

1/4 cup whole white KKG Kumaran urad dhall

1 tsp ghee

1/2 tsp sesame seeds

1/4 tsp asafetida

oil for deep frying

salt to taste

Instructions

Making Urad Dhall murukku

  1. Rinse KKG Kumaran urad dhall drain water and add to cooker along with 1/2 cup water. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  2. Drain water, cool completely then add to mixer and grind to a fine paste. Add little water if it gets stuck.
  3. To a mixing bowl – add this paste along with rice flour, salt, ghee, asafoetida, and sesame seeds. Mix this well first.
  4. Then add water little by little to form a smooth dough.
  5. Make a cylindrical log and keep it ready. Place star or any of your favorite murukku press, grease oil in the mold then fill the mold with dough.
  6. Then press in 3-4 ladles and keep it ready. Heat oil – flip the ladle gently, add 3-4 murukku at a time. Fry in batches.
  7. Flip over carefully, fry until golden on both sides. Remove and repeat to finish.
